The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Paul Swander
Paul W. "Rosie" Swander, 74, of Ohio City died at 1:28 p.m. Feb. 2, 2008, in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Ind. Death was due to injuries from a fall received at the Ohio City Fire House.
He was born July 5, 1933, in Mercer County to J. Raymond and Wilma F. Searight Swander. On Sept. 10, 1955, he married Rhea B. Boroff, who survives.
Other survivors are three sons, Darrell E. (Diana "Deeter"), and Paul G. "Tip" (Connie), all of Ohio City and Tony A. (Lori), Rockford; a brother, Carl (Nila), Rockford; three sisters, Betty (Vernon) Beck, Dorothy Gardner, Van Wert, and Nancy (Steve) Croft, Celina; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are an infant brother and sister.
He had worked at Walled Lake Door Company, Ohio City, and retired from National Seal (Federal Mogul). He also helped at the family business, Swan Memorials. He was a member of the Ohio City Church of God, a member of the Ohio City Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Chief for over 30 years, a member of the Northwest Ohio Firefighters Association and a 50-year member of Eureka Lodge No. 592 where he had served as past master.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at the Calvary Evangelical Church, Van Wert, the Rev. Randy Bevington officiating. Burial is at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. A memorial Masonic service by the Eureka Lodge will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday followed by a firefighters memorial service by the Ohio City Fire Department.
