The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Rita Kinderman
Carthagena native Rita R. Kinderman, 68, of Washington Township, Dayton, died Jan. 29, 2010, at her home.
She was born Jan. 29, 1942, in Carthagena, to John and Albina Heitkamp Balster. Her husband of 45 years, Robert Kinderman, survives.
Other survivors are a son, Gary, Columbus; two daughters, Julie (Dwight) Burgess, Columbus, and Janet (Todd) Sabatino, Alliance; five brothers, Harold (Shirley) Balster, St. Henry, Lester (Rae Ann) Balster, Appleton, Wis., Ralph Balster, Phoenix, Ariz., Dennis (Beverly) Balster, Vandalia, and Delbert (Betsy) Balster, Tipp City; two sisters, Margie (Terry) Boeckman, Coldwater, Bernice (Gene) Liening, Freeland, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Elsie Kinderman, Maria Stein, and five grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother and his wife, Warner and Karen Balster; and another sister-in-law, Karen Balster.
She worked as a teller at National City Bank, retiring as head of the training department. She was a 1951 graduate of St. Henry High School and had coached various Kettering youth soccer teams. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, where she previously taught CCD classes and was a member of the Liturgy Commission. She volunteered at the Corner Cupboard Charities.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Feb. 13 at St. Charles Church, the Rev. Dennis Kinderman officiating.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Friday at Westbrock Funeral Home, Dayton, after 9:30 a.m. Feb. 13 at the church.
