The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Cyrillus Wendel
Cyrillus A. "Cy" Wendel, 79, 201 Harrison St., Fort Recovery, died at 7:35 p.m. Feb. 4, 2010, at his home.
He was born Nov. 28, 1930, in St. Peter, to Joseph and Catherine Voskuhl Wendel. On Oct. 23, 1954, he married Nancy Steva, who survives.
Other survivors are four sons, Bruce (Joyce) Wendel, Celina, Brian (Anita) Wendel, Ossian, Ind., Mark Wendel, Fort Recovery, and Tim (Kay) Wendel, Montezuma; three daughters, Betty (Floyd) Ranly, Montezuma, and Beth (Rick) Loy and Mary (Bob) Spahr, all of Portland, Ind.; two brothers, Andrew (Rosemary) Wendel, Wellington, Fla., and Leonard (Janice) Wendel, Ridgeville, Ind.; a sister, Veronica (Jim) Conlin, Hamilton; three sisters-in-law, Bernie Wendel, New Weston, Kate Wendel, Fort Recovery, and Judy Wendel, Coldwater; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Agnes Muhlenkamp; and four brothers, Art, Vitus, Frederick and Carl Wendel.
He retired from Schmitt's Fur Farm, Fort Recovery, after 46 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member and past commander, bingo caller and financial officer of the American Legion, Fort Recovery. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fort Recovery, and Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, where he also called bingo.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joe, the Rev. Charles Mullen officiating. Burial is at St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
Calling is 1-6 p.m. Sunday and 9-9:45 a.m. Monday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
