The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Ralph Schmitt
Ralph O. Schmitt, 77, St. Henry, died at 7:35 a.m. Oct. 12, 2011, at his home.
He was born Sept. 17, 1934, in St. Henry to William and Regina Bertke Schmitt. On Nov. 19, 1960, he married Dorothy Niekamp, who survives.
Also surviving are six children, Marvin Schmitt, St. Henry, Pat (Karen) Schmitt, Celina, Dale (Sandy) Schmitt, Versailles, Wanda (Tim) Jacobs, St. Henry, Marty (Annette) Schmitt, Fort Recovery, and Mary Jo (Stephen) Bucklew, St. Henry; a sister, Roseann (Edward) Bulcher, Rossburg; two brothers-in-law, Paul Keller, Sharpsburg, and Wilbur Feltz, St. Henry; and 20 grandchildren.
Two sisters, Bredella Keller and Alice Feltz, are deceased.
He retired from Copeland Corp. in Sidney and had been engaged in farming. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Coldwater and was a 1953 graduate of St. Henry High School. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Hemm officiating. Burial will follow at St. Henry Cemetery with military rites conducted by the St. Henry American Legion.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
