The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Frederick Prenger
Frederick J. Prenger, 69, Houston, died Jan. 21, 2012, at his residence.
He was born April 14, 1942, in Celina, to Victor and Alma Rolfes Prenger. His mother survives in Coldwater. On Aug. 22, 1964, he married Janice Barhorst, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Pamela (Ron) DeLoye, Elizabeth (Doug) Borchers, and Jeffery (Hollie) Prenger, all of Russia; four siblings, Roseann (Phillip) Schaeffing, Columbus, Margaret (Randy) Griesdorn, Celina, Anthony (Chris) Prenger, Maria Stein, and Mary (Dan) Heitkamp, Coldwater; in-laws, Marilyn (Jerry) Winner, Fort Loramie, and Jerald (Sheila) Barhorst, Russia; and 13 grandchildren.
Also deceased are parents-in-law, William and Mildred Barhorst.
A 1960 graduate of Marion Local High School, he received an associate degree in electronic technology from the University of Dayton and had served in the U. S. Army. He worked at Monarch Machine Tool Company.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Newport, and its men's sodality. He also was a member of St. Remy Knights of Columbus, Indian Lake Moose Lodge, Minster Eagles and Maria Stein American Legion.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by Maria Stein American Legion.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
Memorials may be made to Wilson Hospice Care or to Elizabeth's New Life Center, Sidney.
