The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

L. Pearl Yoder
L. Pearl Yoder, 95, Berne, Ind., passed away Jan. 11, 2014, at Swiss Village, Berne.
She was born Oct. 28, 1918, to Ray and Marie Ritenour Butcher. On April 1, 1939, she married Marion Yoder, who is deceased.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol (Jay) Stauffer, New Bremen, and Sharon (Max) Church Hurley, Sugar Valley, Ga.; two sons, Duane (Jessica) Yoder, Decatur, Ind.; Dean (Maria) Yoder, Geneva, Ind.; a sister, Helen Augsburger, Berne; 10 grandchildren, Ron (Joni) Stauffer, Rob (Denise) Stauffer, Jeffery May, Yvette Weiland, Natalie (David) Spitler, Dean (Laura) Yoder, Lee (Rina) Yoder, Joshua Yoder, Elijah Yoder and Matthew Yoder; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons.
She was a member of the Cross Community Church. She worked for Naas Food Co., Geneva, as a lab technician for 30 years. She also was a waitress for the Coffee Shop and a clerk in the Swiss City Hardware. She was an active member of the Berne Garden Club for many years. Special interests included reading, traveling, ceramics, needlepoint, sewing and gardening.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cross Community Church, Berne, the Rev. Chris Kruchkow officiating. Burial will be in the MRE Cemetery, Berne.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the Cross Community Church, Family Life Care and/or Swiss Village Samaritan Fund.
