The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Ralph Staugler
Ralph P. Staugler, 90, Fort Recovery, died March 12, 2014, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Sept. 18, 1923, in Celina, to Frank and Nora Bertke Staugler. On May 22, 1947, in Fort Recovery, he married Virginia E. Oberlander, who preceded him in death May 4, 1992.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie (Bob) Borgeson, North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Kathy Moreland, Cornelius, N.C.; two sons, Rich (Marlene) Staugler, Portland, Ore., and Chuck (Lucy) Staugler, Fort Recovery; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Helen Staugler, Coldwater; two in-laws, Bert Miller, Celina, and Jay (Connie) Oberlander, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and a special friend, Mildred "Mic" Mendenhall, Coldwater.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard Staugler, Harold Staugler, Dick "Werner" (Genevieve) Staugler, and Lester (Joan) Staugler; a sister, Viola (Quinn) Hagedorn; and an in-law, Helen Brinley.
He was a 1941 graduate of Fort Recovery High School and previously owned and operated the former St. Clair Mills, Fort Recovery. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars and Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, all in Fort Recovery. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and watching various high school sports.
A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery, with military honors conducted by the Fort Recovery American Legion.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be directed to State of the Heart Hospice or Fort Recovery Athletic Boosters.
