The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Thomas Smith
Thomas A. Smith, 90, Wapakoneta, formerly of St. Marys, died at 12:26 p.m. March 19, 2014, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born March 6, 1924, in St. Marys, to Roy and Louise Hartzog Smith.
On Feb. 6, 1944, he married Marian I. Sprague in Philadelphia, Pa., who died June 24, 2013.
Survivors include a son, David (Teresa) Smith, Wapakoneta; a daughter, Luanne (John) Brown, Lincoln, Neb.; five grandchildren, Christine (Mike) Enderud, Kendra Hunter, Carrie (Michael) Daniel, Scott (Linda) Brown and Katie Brown; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Enderud, Bailey Enderud, Dylan Strauss, Emma Strauss, Ian Brown, Owen Brown and Evan Daniel; and a brother, Fred (Lucille) Smith, Fostoria.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, William (Shirley) Smith, and a sister, Mona Lee (Bill) Williams.
He was a 1941 graduate of Buckland High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served in a Marine attachment aboard the USS Philadelphia during World War II. He was retired from Midwest Electrical Cooperative (a job he loved), where he was outside line supervisor. He was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St. Marys and a 48-year member of the St. Marys Kiwanis Club. He also was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts, both of Spencerville. His favorite pastimes included ballroom dancing, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. The Christmas season was his favorite time of year, and he took great care in selecting special gifts for those near and dear to him.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. David Woodyard officiating. Burial with full graveside military honors will follow at Spencerville Cemetery.
Calling is 9-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home on High Street.
