The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Barbara L. Bertke
Barbara L. Bertke, 68, Pioneer, passed away on Dec. 10, 2014, surrounded by her family at her home.
She was born June 5, 1946, in Celina, to Cyril J. and Pauline Puthoff Link. On May 1, 1965, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Cranberry Prairie, she married Robert L. Bertke, who died Nov. 22, 2013.
Surviving are five children, Jennifer (John) Woenker, New Haven, Ind., Joe (Sheila) Bertke, Farmer, Don (Teresa) Bertke, Camden, Mich., Debra (Michael) Traxler, Pioneer, and Cathy Bertke, Pioneer; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carol Schmidt, Union City, Diane Jobe, Bloomdale, and Roseann Link, Findlay; a brother, Roger Link, New Westen; four brothers-in-law, Tom (Kathy) Bertke, Celina, Fred (Gerri) Bertke, New Knoxville, Virgil (Jane) Bertke, St. Marys, and Randy (Kim) Bertke, Franklin, N.C.; seven sisters-in-law, Pat (Ken) Bensman, New Bremen, Bev (John) Froning, Lake City, Tenn, Karen Schulze, Minster, Joan (Mark) Baumer, Coldwater, Joyce (Pat) Berger, Coldwater, Connie (Eric) Seger, Fort Loramie, and Pam (Jim) Simon, Troy.
Also deceased are a grandchild, John Robert Woenker; two sisters, Alice Jean Link and Patricia Link; a brother, Thomas Link; and two brothers-in-law, Vince Schmidt and Fred Schulze.
She was a 1964 graduate of St. Henry High School. After high school she worked 10 years for Mersman Brothers in Celina. She also worked 10 years for Allied Moulded Products, Bryan.
In 1983 she became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Montpelier, and was a member of the Rosary/Altar Society.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and sewing. She loved to travel and had been to 48 states, missing only Alaska and Hawaii.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Montpelier, the Rev. Jim Halleron officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at Floral Grove Cemetery, Pioneer.
Calling is noon-6 p.m. Sunday at Thompson-Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier. A rosary service will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Community Health Professionals Hospice of Williams County or Masses.
