The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality. Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories. It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes. Joan Stammen
Joan M. Stammen, 80, New Bremen, died at 3:40 p.m. Jan. 11, 2015, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Holy Redeemer, New Bremen, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church, at which time the rosary will be prayed. Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, is handling the arrangements.
Memorials can be given to the church memorial fund.

Elmer A. Weaver, 94, Minster, died at 5:45 a.m. Jan. 22, 2015, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster. He had been a resident there for a couple of months. [More]
