The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Thomas Ontrop
Thomas Eugene Ontrop, age 71, of Coldwater, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 6, 1955, to the late Urban and Rose (Homan) Ontrop, he was a graduate of St. Henry High School. Tom was a dedicated employee of Chief's (Brodbeck's) Supermarket, beginning in high school until his retirement in 2021.
Tom is survived by his siblings and in-laws: Marvin Ontrop, Bill (Phylis) Ontrop, Jean (Tom) Roan, and Carl Woeste. Also left to cherish his memory are his nieces and nephews: Jill Woeste, Lynn (Mike) Carpenter, Lori (Troy) Cover, Chad (Elyse) Ontrop and Patrick (Jamie) Roan. He was also a great uncle to 14 great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Woeste, and great nephew, Joshua Carpenter.
Tom enjoyed sports cars and dogs, relaxing on his patio, and teasing his nieces and nephews. He could often be found eating at the St. Henry Nite Club. Tom never met a stranger and had a laugh that could fill a room. In his younger years, he played on several local softball teams.
A private, graveside service will be held for the immediate family.
