The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Neal Ray
Neal Louis Ray, 92, formerly of New Knoxville, OH died 2:02 p.m. Friday June 5, 2026 at Otterbein - St. Marys.
Neal was the son of Cecil and Amy (Crenshaw) Ray. He was born October 12, 1933 in Toledo, OH.
Neal was a professional painter by trade, and worked out of Union Local 1020 in Lima, OH.
His favorite pastimes included discussing financial strategies and watching baseball. Neal was a hard-working, intelligent, stubborn, and humorous man, and he was fiercely proud of raising six independent and strong-willed sons. He was an avid coin collector. Neal was a graduate of the Edward Drummond Libbey High School in Toledo, OH (Class of 1951).
Neal is survived by his sons Dennis (Lynne) Ray of Celina, James (Krissy) Ray of New Knoxville, Neal (Tori) Ray of New Knoxville, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is Neal's half-sister, Wilma Dixon of Toledo.
He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Amy Ray; son Michael Ray; son William Ray; son Jeff Ray; granddaughter Bethany Ray.
Funeral Rites are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday June 11, 2026 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
