The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Veronica Post
Veronica E. Post, age 70, of rural Wendelin passed away peacefully June 30, 2026, at her home.
She was born August 23, 1955 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Arthur & Vita (Eischen) Weitzel. On August 27, 1977 in St. Paul Catholic Church in Sharpsburg she married Nicholas L. Post.
She is survived by her husband and daughter Vanessa Sawatsky (Dery) of Granger, Indiana.
Her sister Edy (Vernon) Link of Ft. Recovery and brother Henry Weitzel of New Weston.
She is also survived by her in-laws: David (Annetta) Post of Celina, Madonna Post of St. Henry, Duane Post of Greenville, Benita (Gary) Jenkinson of Ansonia, and Donna Post of St. Henry, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, also mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sylvester & Lucille Post, and in-laws, Francis Post, Dennis Post, and Jeff Ray.
Veronica graduated from Mississinawa Valley High School. She then went on to work at Fort Recovery Industries. Veronica also spent many years farming with her husband and served as a legal secretary.
Veronica was an avid gardener, wonderful baker and loved her family and pets.
Private family services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
