The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Eugene Plattner
Eugene R. Plattner, 74, 5885 state Route 274, New Bremen, died at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 07, 2007, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
He was born Nov. 10, 1932, in St. Marys, to Raymon and Anna Marie Donnerberg Plattner. On January 1, 1955, he married Martha Klose, who survives near New Bremen.
Also surviving are a son, Dennis (Linda), New Bremen; a daughter, Debbie (Jeff) Scheer, New Bremen; two brothers, Richard (Betty) and Ralph (Beverly), all of New Bremen; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are infant brother and sister, Edward and Betty Lou.
He retired in April 1995 from the former Dairy Farm Products, New Bremen. He was a former member of the New Bremen Police Dept. Auxiliary. He was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen.
Services are noon Thursday at the church, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. At his request the body has been cremated.
Calling is after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Contributions can be made to the local chapter of the Alzheimer's Associations.
Arrangements are by Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen.
