The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Katherine Schmieder
Katherine N. Schmieder, 86, 604 Fox St., New Bremen, died at 1:25 p.m. Feb. 20, 2008, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Dec. 20, 1921, near New Bremen, to Edward and Amelia Wehrman Bambauer. On March 1, 1941, she married Kermit Schmieder, who died Aug. 30, 1963.
Survivors are a daughter, Kathy (Dan) Nedderman, New Bremen; a sister, Dorothy (Kenneth) Graham, Dayton; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Gary; and a brother, Robert Bambauer.
She retired as a receptionist at Minster Machine Corp. She was a member of New Bremen Senior Citizens and the American Legion Auxiliary, also in New Bremen. She also was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen, and a 1939 graduate of New Bremen High School.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Leah Matthews officiating. Burial is at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until time of services at the church.
Contributions can be made to the church's organ fund.
