The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Joan Groff
Joan Groff, 92, formerly of North Star, died on Aug. 2, 2012, at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville.
She was born Jan. 5, 1920, in North Star, to Leo and Zita Grilliot Stammen. On May 17, 1941, she married Val Groff, who died Feb. 28, 1995.
Surviving are five children, Cathy (John) Creager, Rossburg, Vickie (Chuck) Broerman, Colorado Springs, Col., Kathy (Larry) Schmitmeyer, Coldwater, Sherry (Jim) Myers, Greenville, and Deb (Chris) Kunkler, St. Henry; a sister, Mary Jean Wehrkamp, North Star; a sister-in-law, Wilma Stammen, North Star; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are siblings Carol (Bernard) Selhorst, Robert (Loretta) Stammen, Tom Stammen, Luke Stammen and Ruth (Albert) Hemmelgarn, and a brother-in-law, Ernest Wehrkamp.
She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star, and its St. Ann's Ladies Sodality. She worked for North Star Hardware & Implement for 58 years.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
