The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Cyril Bertke
Cyril "Cy" Edwin Bertke, 90, formerly of Zillah Street in Celina, died at 5 p.m. Jan. 9, 2008, at Otterbein-St. Marys Retirement Community.  He was born June 16, 1917, in Cassella, to Leo and Anna Lindhaus Bertke. On Oct. 4, 1949, he married Dorothy E. Dahlinghaus, who died Aug. 24, 2004.
Survivors are a son, Don Bertke, Dayton; two daughters, Sharon (Mike) Lhamon, St. Marys, and Denise (Phil) Keegan, Middletown; three brothers, Wilbur (Anna Marie), St. Henry, Louis (Evelyn), Cassella, and Ernest (Rita), Centerville; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Deceased are a brother and his wife, Leander "Charlie" and Alvera, and a brother, Dennis; and a sister and her husband, Euleta and Werner Bensman, and two sisters, Mary Ann and Marinus.
He retired in 1982 as a band saw operator at Mersman Brothers in Celina after 40 years. He attended St. Henry High School and was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran during World War II, serving in Africa and Italy. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, and its Holy Name Society, the Catholic Knights of America Council, Cassella, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Celina.
Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial is at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina, with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, both of Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina.
