The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Dr. Charles Mackenbach
St. Marys native Dr. Charles W. Mackenbach, 93, of Naples, Fla., died March 30, 2010, in Naples.
He was born Nov. 7, 1916, in St. Marys, to August and Mary Dickman Mackenbach. In 1943, he married Ruth Haemmerlein, who died in 1999. Later he married Marni Surdy, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, John (Mari) Mackenbach, Itasca, Ill., Mary (Lance) Cunha, John's Creek, Ga., and Joan (John) Walschon, Medina; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Lois; three brothers, Albert, Edgar and Paul Mackenbach; and two sisters, Lillian Moul and Julia Tchantz Olson.
He worked as a dentist in St. Marys and served as president of the Northwest Dental Society (NDS). He was a 1934 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and a graduate of The Ohio State Dental College. He was past president of St. Marys City Council and the St. Marys Rotary Club and was president of the St. Marys Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys and the American Legion. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II with the rank of lieutenant commander.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Bill Maki officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 3-6 p.m. Monday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys.
